WHAT IS EPOXY?

As a part of thermosets group, epoxy is an adhesive chemical resin. It is very resistant to water, acid and alkali and it does not lose this attribute over time. The adhesive turns discontinuities into continuities, clamps the both sides together along the crack and contains stress intensity.

Epoxies normally have two components and they, like other thermoplastics, solidify after some time and reaches ultimate hardness within the following week. The combination of glass fiber or carbon fiber with epoxy has excellent mechanical durability. Therefore, it is greatly used in space and aviation technologies and in marine sector.

Epoxy is also used in construction sector. It is used for filling the cracks during repair and then for placing steel reinforcements into the concrete. It has high tensile strength for reinforcements that are placed in reinforced-concrete. Epoxy is also a flooring material and is used as paint and primer at the same time.
